Fun in the snow with Emma
Last weekend the weather here was terrific! Daddy took advantage of the great weather to take Emma out in the yard for some sledding and to help her build her very first snowman. It was so bright out that Emma wore her super-cool shades to play in the yard (as did Mommy and Daddy) and she had a blast with Daddy pulling her all around the yard. Then they moved on to building Emma's snowman. Daddy did most of the rolling and assembling, while Emma discovered that snowballs make a tasty treat and happily sat on her sled, watching Dada work and chomping away on the snow. We kept an eye out to be sure she was only eating pristine, white snow, as Emma just kept munching on it for the rest of the afternoon. When Dada finished the major assembly of the snowman Emma named Ned (after the snowman in her favorite book), Mommy contributed some facial features, buttons and arms and then he and Emma admired the creation. Emma thought Ned looked pretty impressive, and pretty darn tasty, too! After eating a hunk of Ned, Em hopped back on her sled for another spin around the yard and then we went to visit with some of the neighbors, who were all out and about enjoying the nice weather as well. Emma and the other kids, Davey and Ian, had fun stomping in the slushy puddles and yes, eating more snow, while the parents all caught up on what's been happening with the street in hibernation. Unfortunately, the same fate befell Emma's Ned as happens to Ned in the book, and by Monday morning, the warm weather and rain had made the biggest snowman of them all very, very, very small. Maybe this weekend, we'll build a whole snow family!
Emma would also like to give a transcontinental shout-out to her new friend, Elise, who made her first appearance in the world on Monday morning. Emma can't wait to meet Elise in person and show her the ropes of being a precious and precocious little girl! :)
