Emma and Clifford
We went to the children's museum in town for the afternoon today. Emma was especially excited to show Daddy all the sights and fun things to do there since he hadn't been there with Emma before. One of the new visiting exhibits is Clifford, the Big Red Dog and Emma really likes Clifford a lot! She made a beeline for the 9.5 foot tall Clifford statue and promptly disregarded the sign asking kids not to climb on Clifford, which is kind of hard for them to understand, especially when Clifford's tail is a slide. Emma also tried to tickle Clifford's belly but this Clifford didn't react at all. We then moved on to the Sesame Street exhibit, where Emma showed Daddy how good she is at pushing the buttons on the dashboard of Elmo's taxi cab and then Em and Daddy made a little music on the steel drums near Elmo. Emma was very excited to show Daddy the kiddie Wegmans, and had lots of fun throwing food into her cart. She was practicing saying the names of the various fruits and veggies as she chucked them into the basket (and Daddy and Mommy promptly replaced to keep her under the 5 item limit), and was especially cute when she chanted "Kiwwy kiwwy kiwwy!" while merrily tossing the kiwis into her cart. After visiting Wegmans, we made a stop at the kiddie Post Office, where Em found the uniform shirts a wee bit too big but that didn't stop her from running around in one of the shirts 'til Mommy could catch her and take it off! Emma's disappointment at losing her shirt was quickly mitigated by the surprise appearance of Clifford, live and in person, walking around the museum. Emma couldn't believe her eyes and ran right over to him, hugging him around the leg, tickling his belly and shaking his paw. This Clifford responded to Emma and hugged her and patted her on the head, much to her delight. When we finally managed to get Emma detached from Clifford's leg, we checked out the rest of the Clifford exhibit, and Emma got her groove on dancing on the stage in front of the large screen showing Clifford and his friends singing and dancing. (She spent a lot of time playing peekaboo in the curtains next to the stage, too...) Soon the sound of the train lured Em away from shaking her booty, and she and Daddy hopped aboard the train for a spin around the indoor track. Emma was hamming it up for Mommy and the camera each time the train went by, much to the amusement of everyone waiting near Mommy by the exit. Em also moused away at one of the computers, climbed up and "bump-bumped" down the stairs at 123 Sesame Street and listened to Elmo on the Sesame Street payphone before heading back to the Clifford exhibit on our way out. She climbed right into Clifford's food bowl and was climbing around all the bones that the bigger kids were sending up the conveyor belt and into the bowl. After all that playing and running around, Emma was one tired kiddo by the time we headed out to the car! She sure had lots of fun showing Daddy all the neat things at the museum, and wants to show him the rest of the fun stuff next time we go.
