Emma in the dark
We had a bit of a winter storm this weekend, and along with a bunch of new snow (the drifts are higher than Emma is tall), it was mighty chilly too. So chilly and snowy, in fact, that church was cancelled this morning, and the only Smith to venture outside all day was Daddy, who had to do important things like snowblow the driveway and take out the garbage. Well, wouldn't you know that the power would have to go out, too? Around 5:00 this evening, everything died. Fortunately, the power was restored a couple of hours later, before it got too cold in the house. During the time the power was out, Emma had a lot of fun playing with a flashlight and dancing around the living room. Her favorite flashlight games were shining it up on the ceiling and saying "UP! UP! UUUUUUP!" and shining it into her face. Guess she was practicing for when it is her turn to tell ghost stories at Girl Scout Camp in a few years! (By the way, thanks to those who offered a warm place to stay if we needed it! We appreciate all the offers!!) Once the temperatures warm up a bit, we plan to head outside for Emma's first time playing in the snow. She is very excited to build a snowman, like the kids in that favorite book of hers, Snow, and go sledding too, so stayed tuned for pictures as the weather cooperates later in the week!
