Lollypop Farm Emma
Emma had a playdate today with her friends Omar and Ava. They went (along with their mommies) to the petting zoo at Lollypop Farm (the local Humane Society). It gave the kids a chance to get up close and very personal with lots of animals, especially the goats, who were quite inquisitive - and hungry - as evidenced by their repeated efforts to eat Emma's toes, her stroller toys, and Omar's stroller too. Omar was very brave and actually tried to pet the goats, while Emma seemed to prefer them from more of a distance than the goats were giving her. We then headed outside, where there were some really big goats along with sheep, llamas, a pot-bellied pig and a pen full of Emma's favorites - the "bock-bockahs" as Emma calls them. After checking out the rest of the animals, we headed to the park up the road for a picnic lunch and more playing. (Somehow, the moms all packed food for the kiddos, but none for themselves!) Once the kids ate, they immediately began to explore the park around the picnic bench. Omar discovered a neat stick that had Emma and him quite intrigued, while Ava found some cool grass that was also very interesting. Emma was having a lot of fun "wrestling" with Omar and she wouldn't leave him alone, pulling on him 'til she got him pinned to the grass! Omar thinks Em is quite silly when she acts like that! Then the kids decided it was time to have an impromptu percussion session, using the metal picnic bench to jam for a while 'til the moms scooped them up and took them over to the actual playground part of the park. It was a very fun day, and Emma was pooped by the time we got into the car to drive home - she was sound asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot!
