Bathing Beauty Em
Well, today was Daddy's last day of vacation, and we spent most of it relaxing in the yard. Since it was a really HOT and sunny day, we set up Emma's new pool (thanks Aunt Cathy!) for her to try out for the first time. It took Mommy a while to get Emma out of her clothes, into the swimmy diaper and bathing suit and slathered with sunscreen, but Mommy finally managed and we headed out to the pool. Emma was tentative for the first minute or two, and then decided she did NOT like the pool and wanted out. We gave it another try a few minutes later and she began to like this whole, weird thing of being in water like the bath tub, but outside and wearing clothes. She mugged for the camera (being the ham that she is) and then quickly realized that she could splash Mommy and Daddy in the pool, which was a big bonus! The best part was when she discovered that her pool has a slide - her favorite! After playing in the pool for a while, Emma decided to try to get away with a No-No from bathtime - she dunked her face into the water. She immediately learned that doing this in the pool has the same consequence as doing it in the bath - being pulled instantly out of the water and onto dry land! She wasn't thrilled to be suddenly stuck on the ground in a towel, but rallied when she saw that Daddy had set out her new, Emma-sized lawn chair and went to check it out. Before you know it, it was time for Em to take a nap and for Daddy to beat Mommy at gin rummy (again!) in the shade on the deck.
