Emma and animals
Emma is learning all the different animals and the sounds they make. So far, she has moo, neigh, baa, bock bock and occasionally oink. She also says something that we're pretty sure is supposed to be "kitty" though it isn't quite crystal clear. Some of the things that have helped Em learn her animals include playing with her Little People Farm, where she will identify animals by the sound they make (here's baa baa black sheep). The farm has all sorts of sounds built in, so if Mommy or Daddy helps Emma by putting the animal with the corresponding sound bit, Em can make it play its sound by herself, which helps her know when she wants a little beef for dinner, for example. The barn also plays two songs, The Farmer in the Dell and Old MacDonald, which play in rotation whenever the one pad is pressed. Emma knows exactly how to push the pad so Mommy gets to hear the song over and over and over all day! When Emma is taking a break from the Little People Farm, she likes to read stories about animals, like Barnyard Dance which has lots of animal sounds in it, or another one of her favorites, Mr. Brown Can Moo. Emma has heard these stories many, many times, and now she will sit with the books, turn the pages and "read" them to herself.
