Emma's Room

Almost one!
Emma's first birthday is rapidly approaching, and Emma is certainly not the little, tiny baby she was last summer! Some of the "big girl" activities she enjoys now include:
- Swinging at the park, which she likes to do even more when she is with a friend, like Taylor or Rachel. (Mommy found out how hard it is to take a picture of two kids swinging at the same time!)
- Playing with Chloe the cat - Emma spends a good amount of time every day petting Chloe and also chasing Chloe through the play hut, the kitchen, the living room, anywhere she can 'til Chloe decides she has had enough and heads to the top of the couch or the other side of the baby gate, where she is out of Em's reach.
- Looking out the window at the interesting happenings in the neighborhood, like someone mowing the lawn or kids playing outside. If you happen to go by the house and see Emma at the window, she will give you a wave and a smile!
- "Doing lunch" with Mommy and friends once a month at the local "Meet-Up" for stay-at-home moms. That's Taylor sharing Mommy's lap in this picture.
- Gymboree is a big favorite of Emma's! Here she is with Mommy, playing in the parachute with her friends and watching the bubbles. Emma gets so excited when we walk in the door for class each week, and is always reluctant to leave at the end.
- Now that Emma is so big, she can sit in her (admittedly small) Big Girl chair. She also likes to wave at the camera whenever she can!
- Emma loves books! In addition to being a regular Story Time attendee, she likes to listen to books and also read them all by herself, too. She is especially good at turning pages, and always wants to turn them no matter who is reading. Her favorite books to read by herself are the interactive ones like this one that she got from her Aunt Megan and Uncle Matt for Christmas. (Mommy and Daddy don't mind her turning pages when they are materials like this one!) She also likes books with photos of different things, like animals at the zoo or on the farm.
- Bathtime is still one of Emma's favorite parts of the day. She loves to play in the tub until the water gets cold and her fingers get pruny!
- Emma has just discovered how much fun it is to play with Baby Tad. She can now press the different shapes that light up on Tad's chest to make the songs play.
