Does Mommy listen to the Showtunes station too much?
Possibly, because today Emma was as corny as Kansas in August, and next week she'll be as normal as blueberry pie.... Why, you ask? Because we discovered two new types of jarred baby food at the grocery store this morning, so Emma's new food for this week is corn (Sweet Corn Casserole, to be exact) and for next week it will be blueberries (with apples). Yes, I know I have been making most of her baby food from scratch, but let's face it, Rochester in the middle of winter isn't exactly overflowing with an abundance of fresh produce for baby food-making use. That said, I may try to make her some corn from frozen corn now that I've seen her reaction to the ridiculously overpriced jarred variety:

Mommy was a bit dubious looking at the way the corn came out of the jar, but after tasting it, decided it wasn't too bad. (Not too keen on seeing how it comes out the other end of Em, however!) Emma took her first taste of the corn goo, thought about it (and made this funny face while pondering), and finally decided that she likes it! Actually, she loved it, as evidenced by the empty bowl at the end of the meal!

After she was done with the corn and her bottle, Em wanted to play for a bit, as per usual Emma routine. While playing in her megasaucer, she obliged Mommy the photographer with her impression of the Mother Superior from The Sound of Music, surely another sign that she's heard a lot of showtunes! After she got bored megasaucing, Em moved on to her new favorite thing to do - playing on the floor. She enjoys rolling around on the blanket we put down in a vain effort to keep her from sucking the Scotch Guard out of the carpet fibers, and she also likes to play Peek-a-boo with her Taggie blanket. Then again, maybe it isn't Peek-a-boo, maybe she's just covering her head in a desparate attempt to drown out the ubiquitous showtunes... :-)

(PS - the first sentence of this post quoted lines from a song in South Pacific for those of you who might not get quite as much exposure to showtunes as Emma and her Mommy do!)
