Apearently these are NOT as good as bananas!
It had to happen - we couldn't feed Emma only bananas for the rest of her life, no matter how much she loves them (and she really, really loves them). Today Emma tried pears for the first time. Mommy made her some fresh pear puree from some nice, sweet Anjou pears. Here is Emma's reaction:

• Emma was showing her usual enthusiasm when she first sat in her high chair...
  
• ...but when the first mouthful went in, she was quite surprised at the new taste!
  
• Emma very quickly realized that these were not bananas!
  
• She really wasn't quite sure what to make of the pears, and then thought that blowing spit bubbles with them so they'd go right up her nose might be a thing to try.
  
• It seems as though the jury is still out on the pears, but hopefully Emma will grow to like them, or at least get used to them!
