Our first "formal" family pictures

Look what just came in the mail - our first "formal" family pictures! They were taken just before Emma turned 4 months old.

Here's the Smith family, all cleaned up and looking good for the photo shoot! It was a bit tricky because of the way they posed us. You know how it goes... one foot on a box, leaning this way with head turned and tilted, and Emma balanced on a plank of wood covered with a bit of carpet rather crookedly across our uneven legs. Unfortunately, the picture was taken exactly one week before Emma began being able to hold her head up without assistance, so she was a bit wobbly as well as a bit sleepy, having just woken up from a nap.
This one is the picture we think we selected to go into the new church directory, which was the occasion that called for the photo session. (Hence the lovely, light blue background!) We'll know for sure if it was the one we chose when the directory comes out in a few months.
