Some "firsts" for Emma
Emma had some "firsts" this weekend! The biggest one was that last night was the first night that she spent sleeping in her crib in the nursery instead of in the bassinet in Mommy and Daddy's bedroom! She did wonderfully - she slept the whole night through without fussing. Emma has been sleeping for up to 6 or 7 hours at a stretch overnights now, which is why we decided to try putting her to bed in the nursery, which is right next to our room. (Although... it took some serious convincing by Daddy before Mommy decided not to bother putting the baby monitor on and just leave the doors open!)
Another first was Emma's first trip to the zoo today. As you can see in the pictures below, Emma wasn't too impressed, in fact, she decided that next to church, the zoo is her favorite new place to nap! We think she was awake part of the time and just refusing to open her eyes, as she does have that Baby Vampire reputation to maintain and we were out in the sunlight almost the whole time. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the walk though, especially on such a sunny but not too hot afternoon. Hopefully the next time we go to the zoo, Emma will actually look at the animals and not just the inside of her eyelids! We figure that being older than 12 weeks the next time will probably help with her interest level too...
- Emma usually likes to ride facing outward in her carrier so she can see the sights, but as you can see, when she wants to nap, the carrier works just as well as her crib or swing! At least riding facing outward gives her the opportunity to wear her new, pink baseball cap - anything to keep the sun off her vampire baby face!
- Emma was sleeping so soundly that she didn't even bother to check if the elephants at the zoo have pink, glitter tummies and polka dotted sides like the elephant has on her activity mat at home!
One last note: When Emma went to Daddy's office for her weekly weigh-in yesterday, we learned that she is up to twelve pounds even! That could be the reason why she's starting to fit into her 3-6 month old sized clothing!
